Summer is the perfect time to explore the beauty of Oregon. Whether you’re looking for adventure, entertainment, or relaxation, you’ll find it close to home. Here are some of the top events happening in Salem, Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, and Newport this summer.

Salem

Salem has plenty of summer events to offer. The Oregon State Fair takes place from August 25th to September 4th, and offers a variety of attractions. Your family can enjoy carnival rides, concerts, agricultural displays, and shopping. The city also hosts Salem Saturday Market, which runs until October and features fresh produce and products from local vendors. Want to experience different cultures and learn new things this summer? The World Beat Festival takes place at Riverfront Park June 23rd to June 25th, and celebrates diversity with live music, dancing, and food from all over the world.

Albany

Albany, located 20 miles south of Salem, is another great destination for summer fun. The  Northwest Art and Air Festival, which takes place August 25th to August 27th, is worth a visit. This festival features hot air balloons, live music, and art. If you’re looking for an event earlier in the summer, consider River Rhythms. This is a free concert series that Albany Parks and Rec hosts every summer. The first concert is on Thursday July 20th, and happens every Thursday until August 10th. The city also hosts a weekly Farmer's Market every Saturday at City Hall. Enjoy local fruits and vegetables and handcrafted gifts.

Corvallis

Corvallis is home to Oregon State University and has a vibrant arts and culture scene. In July, the city hosts the da Vinci Days festival, celebrating art, science, and technology. Visit the Corvallis Farmers Market which takes place every Saturday until November for a variety of local produce, crafts, and baked goods.The Benton County Fair takes place August 3rd through August 6th and features fun carnival rides, your favorite fair food, and many 4-H exhibits.

Lebanon

Lebanon is a small town with big summer events. The Lebanon Strawberry Festival takes place June 1st through June 4th, and features a parade, live music, and plenty of fresh strawberries. You can even try a piece of the World’s Largest Strawberry Shortcake. The city also hosts a Farmer’s Market that runs every Thursday until November. Stop by for an assortment of fresh fruits and veggies!

Newport

Plans for the 4th of July not finalized yet? You may want to consider Newport. Every summer, Newport hosts a big fireworks display over Yaquina Bay. The Newport Farmers Market takes place every Saturday and runs until December. This is the best place to find fresh, yummy seafood. If you’re planning a day at the beach, the Oregon Coast Aquarium is a great spot. Families of all ages will enjoy this fun and educational experience.
